New Communications and Auction Coordinator named

Mandy Horn joins St. Pius X as Communications & Auction Coordinator on July 1, 2018. As a current parent, parishioner and active volunteer at St. Pius X, Mandy brings a unique skill set to the position.

Born and raised in Texas, Mandy attended college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Studies and a Master’s Degree in Human Development and Family Science.

She’s worked at CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and Family & Children’s Services providing home-based services for families that were involved with the court system due to child abuse or neglect. After becoming a mother, she worked part time developing profiles for children that were eligible for adoption through SWIFT at Family & Children’s Services.

Fr. Matt married Mandy and her husband, Mitch, in Eureka Springs, and baptized both her children at St. Pius X. “When our first child was school-bound, we toured several Catholic schools, but fell in love with the community, staff, diversity, and family/staff relationships at St. Pius X,” said Mandy. This coming year, Harper will be in 2nd grade and Hank will enter Pre-K 4.

Mandy has served on Home & School Association, as a Home Room Parent, Auction Committees (2016, 2017, 2018), Auction Co-Chair (2017), church service projects, basketball coach, and the Athletic Association.

According to Mandy, “Throughout my life and professional career, most of my roles have revolved around great communication skills; be it as a mentor to parents whom needed coaching in order to keep custody of their children, providing comfort and support to an abused or neglected child, on a volunteer committee, or a mother trying to raise children to be faithful, responsible, kind, and respectful. I look forward to this opportunity in providing communication to our St. Pius X school and church families, as well as helping the prospective parishioners and school families understand what it means to be a part of our St. Pius X family!”
