Thanks to the many trivia players, sponsors, volunteers, food trucks and our Trivia Committee, we raised $5,358 to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math clubs and programs at St. Pius X School!
Our students are already making great strides in STEM. This year our Robotics Club competed at the State level for the first time ever. Last month Middle School students won Division 3 overall at the Oklahoma School of Science & Mathematics competition, and won a regional Rubik’s Cube competition by solving 25 cubes in 4 minutes and 11 seconds, beating the 2nd place high school team by over a minute! Our MathCounts team placed 8th in State out of 25 teams, with 2 students finishing in the top 20.
According to the Smithsonian Science Education Center, it is projected that 2.4 million STEM jobs will go unfilled this year due to applicants’ lack of qualifications. At St. Pius X School, we recognize this opportunity to prepare our students for the challenges and careers of the future that rely largely on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills.
